2 questions about curling hair with a curling iron....?

1) how dry does hair have to be to curl without doing damage? all the way dry?

2) is curling hair less damaging than straightening hair?2 questions about curling hair with a curling iron....?
1) Your hair has to be 100% dry to LESSEN the damage done by using heat. You can't really eliminate damage entirely, but if you apply a light silicone based product before you curl, the heat will burn the silicone, rather than your hair's moisture.

2) Assuming you're utilizing proper product usage and proper flat ironing and/or curling techniques, the level of damage is comparable between the two.

When most girls curl their hair, they clamp the curling iron on the ends of their hair and curl up the hair shaft, this actually causes a lot of damage to the ends of your hair, and causes your ends to look dry and damaged.

To curl your hair with minimal damage;

1) Take your section of hair, pull the iron from the root (almost at the scalp) to the mid-shaft (Middle of the section).

2) Holding onto the end of the section, roll the curling iron up 1 - 1/12 rotations, wrapping the ends around the barrel as needed.

3) ';Click'; the iron (open and close it) a few times, until the iron has moved down the hair-shaft slightly.

Note: Make sure that the hair that you've already wrapped around is still wrapped around the barrel.

4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 until entire section of hair is wrapped around the barrel of the curling iron.

5) Hold the curling iron in place for 4 counts of 4 (1,2,3,4; 2,2,3,4; 3,2,3,4; 4,2,3,4)

6) Release section from curling iron.

7) Repeat steps 1 through 6 for each individual curl desired.

This sounds complicated, but it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, and it distributes the heat more evenly throught the hair, causing less damage.

Good luck and happy curling.2 questions about curling hair with a curling iron....?
If you are using a curling iron, it should be all dry.

As long as you have heat on your hair, it will damage it. Curling hair is more damaging because the hair is touching the iron longer!
1. your hair should be completley dry.

2. it's about equal, however i think straightning iit causes more damage because your hair is struggling to stay straight.

hope this helped, happy holidays!
It has to be 100% dry or it will scorch it... As long as you use a heat protectant on your hair you should be okay using a curling iron or flat iron just don't use it everyday, give your hair a break a day or two out of the week... Hope this helps!
1)All The Way Dry.

2)Yea.
