How do i keep my curly hair in tight curls without a curling iron?

i love how curly my hair is but when i leave it down it gets nappy and dry i tried to but hair glue, hairspray, moose,and gel(not all at once) but it don't work can somebody tell me a way to keep it curly with no frizz or puffiness.How do i keep my curly hair in tight curls without a curling iron?

*Don't shampoo every day.

*Comb conditioner through hair in the shower.

*Never use a brush, only a comb, or better yet fingers, when wet.

*Avoid terrycloth towels; use microfiber or tshirts instead.
