How do you curl you hair with a flat iron?

Sometimes I try to get my hair to look wavey, but not curly by using my flat iron as a curler, but it just doesn't work. It says on the box that it can be used as a curling iron too, so don't just tell me to use a curler. I've heard of people doing it, too. Have any useful tips? I think you twist it as you go. This girl did my hair wavy using flat irons..

It looked nice. I think she just sort of used them like tongs. x
you take and hook your hair at the bottom of the iron and as you turn slighty bring your hair up after every turn =]

watch the youtube videos. But it honestly doesn't work well.
hold your straightener horizontally and clamp the middle of your hair, turn 180 degrees, slowly pull down.
well make sure the flat iron is 1'' or less first
There is a circular iron that will curl, not flat iron.
